flat-feet.jpgAccording to writer Raliat-Ahmed-Tusuf of Leadership.ng women wear high heels to boost their confidence, make their legs look longer and sexier , and or to make them more stylish. But according to a study wearing these high heels can damage the feet. The result can lead to flat feet where the inside of the foot is flattened, allowing the foot to touch the floor entirely when standing up. Dr. Adeyemi Ajibade, an orthopedic surgeon, explains that “the damage that high heels can cause to the bone structure is drastic, because without the right position while walking in heels apart from looking odd, they damage the spine and knees.

Although wearing high heels is fashionable to many women; it is show to have its disadvantages as well. If you think you have flat feet you should seek out the care of a podiatrist such as like Dr. Nicholas Crismali of Crismali Foot & Ankle. Dr. Crismali will diagnose any foot conditions you may have as well as provide you with a range of treatment options.

What are Flat Feet?

Conditions & Problems:

Having flat feet makes it difficult to run or walk because of the stress placed on the ankles.

Alignment – The general alignment of your legs can be disrupted, because the ankles move inward which can cause major discomfort.

Knees – if you have complications with your knees, flat feet can be a contributor to arthritis in that area.

Symptoms:

  • Pain around the heel or arch area.
  • Trouble standing on the tip toe.
  • Swelling around the inside of the ankle.
  • Flat look to one or both feet.
  • Having your shoes feel uneven when worn.
